The Folding Dining Table from Italian company Porada is a really interesting piece of furniture. This piece of furniture can be used as a mirror and ganged on the wall when folded, and it can also be used as a neat folding table especially when your dining space is limited. Don’t know how many of you would have the time to fold and unfold this “mirror table” but I thought that is a really cool idea.

Mill Valley Hillside by McGlashan Architecture

Architect Scott McGlashan of McGlashan Architecture designed this gorgeous, contemporary hillside home in Mill Valley, California, for an extended family of three generations to share. Natural wood throughout is stained to highlight its natural tone. Tiles of varied stone appear on floors, and stone bricks adorn walls. The double-thick counters in the kitchen and bathroom further enhance the home’s sense of earth-inspired luxury. The round skylight in the kitchen serves as a gorgeous architectural detail while naturally lighting the space. A lovely, contemporary staircase design juxtaposes the natural with the urban: from above the staircases boasts beautiful natural hardwood details, while a view from beneath reveals unique steel detail reminiscent of the industrial era, with a modern twist.

Sometimes designers create something that is simply too far ahead of its time. That seems too be the case with the Clipper CS-1, created as part of a Herman Miller study into improving office spaces, a cocoon like workstation which actually dates back to the early ’90s before most of us even used computers. Created for CAD workers, the opaque side screens are supposed to reduce screen reflections while letting plenty of natural light through, but they also provide much better privacy than an open cubicle.
