Ripple Design projected a courtyard in the middle of the house that reveals itself as a kind of plaza on a micro-urban scale ideal for relaxing or entertaining. The outside becomes the inside of the house when you open the courtyard doors, that regulate comfort via breezes and heat gain as well as diverse social interactions. The building reduces the ecological footprint thanks to the way in which the house is nestled into the hillside, the thickening of specific walls and ceilings, the exploitation of dense or reflective materials, the solar cells that heat water and create electrical energy, etc. In fact, the house creates all of its own power.

The Walmer Loft by Dubbeldam Design Architects

This loft in Toronto has designed by Dubbeldam Design Architects. Modern, sleek space that looks like a well-tailored suit. Through the creative planning of the renovation, the initially small, dark and cramped apartment was made to feel larger, more spacious and open. Although this was an interior renovation of an existing space, the actual square footage was increased by 400 sq. ft., with the addition of a new loft area, creating new rooms where there were none before. The solution was to remove most of the interior partitions except for one division between the public and private zones, and replace the tiny windows with significantly larger ones.

Kohler is a design company creating and selling kitchen and bathroom items worldwide. For today we would like to show you these unusual sinks, which we hope will give you an idea of a fresh way to improve how your bathroom looks. Using vivid colours (mostly red, yellow and green), art patterns were applied to the surface of these sinks upgrading them to another level. These are not the only bathroom products that were “tuned”, but the company applied patterns to bathtubs and walls also.
