It looks anything but modern on the exterior: a tall, dark tower made of stone with slots that look constructed for medieval archers and a turret-like top from which one can picture ancient defenders pouring boiling oil on would-be invaders. The inside of this 1930s water tower-turned-house, however, gleams white and smooth all around – quintessentially modern despite the non-linear walls and minimalist metal spiral staircases, curves that dominate each space within this completely remodeled cylinder. Steel, concrete and glass form the basic material palette used by Zecc in this incredible contemporary home conversion – and these choices do help to transition from the aged rustic style of the preserved facade to the modern interior spaces, but they are nonetheless almost as different as can be.

The exterior reflects the surroundings and the sky, creating a camouflaged refuge. The interior is all made of plywood and the windows give a 360 degree view. The functions provides a living for two people, a double bed, a small kitchen and bathroom, a living room and roof terrace. The access to the cabin is by a rope ladder or a rope bridge. To prevent birds fly into the windows, transparent stickers, visible for birds, will be added to the facades.

Sited in a sloping terrain of land of Quinta do Buraco condominium, Carlos Castanheira in collaboration with Bastai Architects created a beautiful sustainable house. The exterior covering is constituted by wonderful manufactured copper, glass and slate on the floor areas adjacent to the interior floors. The colours are, and will remain, the natural colours of the respective materials. Work will now proceed in the exterior zone. Due to the slope of the terrain, it was possible to create another ground floor room, for use by the family's children and their friends. In the site where a water-course was identified, there is now a three-quarter body. A bridge was also built, terminating in a terrace, thereby maintaining the original profile of the land and creating the possibility of encompassing the landscape below, both from the interior and the exterior. Next to the plot of land itself, the entire structure is made of concrete. From the concrete base upwards, all the pillars, beams, linings and door and window frames are made of wood, produced by excellent carpenters, who fortunately can still be found. Inside the building, the coverings are made of wood in the ceilings and door and window frames; glass; several painted, plastered areas and slate in all floor coverings.

Space is one of the fundamental elements that many people seek for in a nice and comfortable house, interiorly and exteriorly and the well balance of both. That is what many will think of an ideal house for summer time, the House in Menorca is one of such houses, with a good balance between its interior and exterior. The house was built upon the inspiration of the “tanca” of Menorca; the divisions with the wall of stone. The house had combined all of multiple elements in form of a harmony, which each of the elements has its own feeling and identify yet harmoniously balanced being with each other as whole. It has the elements of softness that is well contrasted with hardness, use of glasses and sand, and woods and stones. They are indeed a well balanced designed.

It works exactly like a touchscreen tablet, allowing you to interact with whatever's on the screen. Instead of performing swipes and taps on a glass panel, though, you do it over any flat surface where the laser projector throws up its digital display. Other features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 2GB of onboard storage, microSD card expansion and a rechargeable battery (with two hours of runtime). Seriously, this thing looks awesome.
