”CUB” Lamp by Julian Robin

From French designer Julian Robin this tricky piece of furniture is a block of wood that's also a lamp. Switched off it's a cube of hardwood, switched on, it's an ornamental lamp with a leaf motif. This contrast between on and off presents a comment on nature. When off, the Cub Lamp bares little resemblance to its original form. When on, the wood once was shines through.

Jung Hwa Jin has developed a new type of light fixture called the Light Container, which combines East and West philosophies and resembles a stack of plates about to crash to the ground. The bulb at the end of the lamp seems to be the only thing keeping them together.

Japanese at JTT Japan has comes up with the so called ‘World’s First USB-powered Light Bulb’ for the public.
Drawing power from USB to power up a light bulb is certainly a good invention.
The
Light Bulb comes with a retro lamp shade, turning your laptop side with a classic touch.

Lull Flower Lamp Concept

Designed by three Norwegian designers (Marianne Varmo, Heidi Buene, and Audun Kollstad), Lull is a lamp that opens and closes like a flower. In the morning, the lamp opens carefully and dims up to gently wake you up. In the evening, the flower slowly closes and eventually turns off. Lull is not yet in production, but if everything goes as planned, it is going to be in the stores by the end of 2009.
